Americares India Foundation

Americares India Foundation (AIF) is a public charitable trust dedicated to improving access to quality health care for vulnerable and underserved communities across India. Through partnerships with governments, health care institutions, communities and corporate partners, the organization strengthens health systems, delivers essential health services, supports disaster response and improves medicine security while promoting preventive health care and healthier communities.

Our programmes address critical health needs across communities and include Emergency Response and Disaster Relief, Mobile Health Clinics, Community Health Centres, School Health, and Non-Communicable Diseases (NC-Dishaa). Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) is integrated across our programmes, recognising the importance of mental well-being as an essential component of overall health. Together, these programmes enable us to deliver preventive, promotive and curative healthcare while strengthening the capacity of healthcare providers and local health systems.

Addressing Antimicrobial Resistance

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing global public health challenge that threatens the effectiveness of medicines used to treat infections. Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) promotes the appropriate and responsible use of antimicrobials, helping preserve their effectiveness and prevent the emergence and spread of resistance. Strengthening the knowledge and practices of healthcare professionals is an important step towards addressing AMR and improving patient safety.

The OPEN-AMR Platform

OPEN-AMR is a free online learning platform by Americares India that strengthens the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals in Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). The platform offers six structured courses in foundational and advanced IPC, healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial stewardship, available in Indian regional languages. OPEN-AMR offers 5 CNE points through the Maharashtra Nursing Council and 6 CNE points through the Goa Nursing Council, with the Trained Nurses' Association of India (TNAI) as its knowledge, outreach and certification partner.
